@grok... generate me a documentary

 The viewer becomes the... the um... uhhh... erm... viewee?

I made my own documentary with my friends hahah lala hahah la la

How it feels to make art with your friends

Last year, while we were getting Ice Cream at Lucille's (RIP, your potato skins will not be forgotten), my friend Aneesa and I brought up the topic of religion. Ever the existential discussion enjoyer, I, of course, was immediately engaged. I like to think of myself as sort of a modern Jerry Seinfeld in the way that I'm Jewish and think that I'm hilarious, but more than likely am not.

We got to discussing, and this was also around the same time some of our friends in A-level were making their documentaries. We decided that, come this time next year, we would make a documentary about religion.

We started off debating the actual focus of the doc. After a lot of deliberation, we settled on focusing the idea of the doc on the concept of Faith. We made a document to figure out our structure. You can read it here. My 3 group members are catholic, while I am of the tribe, so we decided to use our connections to our advantage. Catholicism and Judaism are the 2 religions we decided to focus on, and we got to calling the establishments we wanted to film at and interview people from right away. On the Jewish end, it was a pretty easy process. I shot an email to my Rabbi, who responded pretty much immediately, fully willing to help in any way. On the Catholic side of things, it was a bit more difficult. The first church we contacted was unwilling to interview, and we had some struggles confirming the second one we reached out to. I'm not religious in any sense of the word, but maybe it was a gift from the man above that the exact pastor we wanted to interview was at our school for a different event right when we wanted to interview him.

Research-wise, we (by we I mean mostly Nico) went heavy into philosophical thought on religious expression. We also delved into some Talmudic scripture and Biblical stories to guide our journey through faith. We also wanted to get an expert to issue some facts, so I reached out to a couple of professors at some local universities, and one from Nova Southeastern University responded, willing to do a Zoom interview. We scheduled another interview with a second priest, and we had our lineup.

How our insane interview lineup was genuinely looking
